Understanding Community Is A Must For Marketing
As the internet progresses through web 2.0 there is a massive marketing shift occurring online. When the internet was first launched some 20 years ago it was used mainly as a broadcast station to deliver content in a linear fashion. Very little, if any, interaction occurred. Therefore, for the past 19 years we would post content, and make it a one way communication broadcasting center. Things have now changed!
If you, as an online internet marketer, does not pay close attention to the fact that there is a massive shift going on from a broadcasting, one way content deliver system to a community based interaction system, you will miss the boat.
Web 2.0 is about locating a particular community of people, finding the conversation in that community, and interacting with the conversation to market your goods and services. The internet is now a two way street where marketers get to know their customers, and customers get to know the marketers.
Do not panic! This is good. Remember, people buy from people they know, like, and trust. If a prospect knows about your life, you have a better chance of them trusting you enough to give you money.
Some of the biggest companies in the country are reaching out to their customer base through blogs, and web 2.0 social sites like Facebook, and Twitter. We, as internet marketers, can enter the conversation going on within our specific markets.
Entering the conversation can be used for market research, and building trust with your propective customers.
Therefore, enter the web 2.0 era! Make sure you find the conversation going on in your particular market, and enter that conversation. Sales will most likely follow.
